Draft Photo Electoral Roll published for 59 Assembly Constituencies in Nagaland

Kohima: AEO-in-Charge of Noklak requests political parties to instruct their BLAs to continue assisting BLOs throughout Special Summary Revision period

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland has announced the publication of the draft photo electoral roll for 59 of the total 60 Assembly Constituencies in the State by the respective Electoral Registration Officer.

The CEO informed that the revision activities in 43-Tapi Assembly Constituency have been temporarily suspended due to an upcoming bye-election.

The total number of electors in the draft roll for 2024, excluding 43-Tapi AC, is as follows:

The Electors-Population (EP) ratio for the state is 534, and the gender ratio stands at 1000 males to 1005 females, as per the published draft roll.

The CEO informed that the period for filing claims and objections will be from 27th October 2023, to 9th December 2023. Special camps will be organized at all polling stations on 3rd and 4th November 2023 (Friday and Saturday) and 17th and 18th November, 2023 (Friday and Saturday) for receiving claims and objections.

Citizens can submit their claims and objections with the respective Booth Level Officer, AERO, and ERO. Application forms are available for download on the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) website. Online applications can also be submitted through the voter helpline app, VHA, available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The final photo electoral roll for 2024 will be officially published on January 10, 2024.

Meeting on Draft Publication of Photo Electoral Roll held

In preparation for the upcoming Special Summary Revision of the Photo Electoral Roll with a qualifying date of 1 January 2024, a Draft publication meeting took place on Friday at the DC’s conference hall Kohima.

During the meeting, the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) from the Election Department shared important updates. Two additional polling stations have been included in the Southern Angami constituency, bringing the total number of polling stations to 186. Furthermore, the AERO announced that special camps would be conducted on 3rd, 4th, and 17th November 2023.

The AERO urged representatives from various political parties to appoint Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to assist in the special camp. These individuals will play a crucial role in facilitating necessary corrections in the electronic voter rolls.

Representatives from different political parties were present at the meeting, and copies of the Draft Roll were distributed to the recognized political parties. Each party received one hard copy and one soft copy of the Draft Roll, ensuring transparency and cooperation in the electoral revision process.

Important information for Kohima Constituencies

The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori, has issued important information for the electors in the following Assembly Constituencies: 8-Western Angami, 9-Kohima Town, 10-Northern Angami-1, 11-Northern Angami-II, 14-Southern Angami-I, and 15-Southern Angami-II. The ERO provides the following details:

  1. The electoral roll has been prepared in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. A copy of the electoral roll is available for inspection at the ERO’s office and at polling stations during office hours. The qualifying date for the preparation of the electoral roll is January 1, 2024.
  2. If, with reference to the qualifying date mentioned above, there is a need to make claims for the inclusion of a name in the roll, object to the inclusion of a name, or raise objections to particulars in any entry, these should be submitted on or before December 9, 2023. The appropriate forms for claims and objections are Forms 6, 7, or 8.
  3. Claims or objections should be presented at the ERO’s office or to the Booth Level Officer. They can also be sent by post to the address provided, ensuring they reach the ERO by the specified date: Electoral Registration Officer, Kohima.
  4. Eligible citizens who are going to attain the age of eighteen years on subsequent qualifying dates in the year 2024, namely, April 1, 2024, July 1, 2024, or October 1, 2024, may file their claims for inclusion of their names in the roll in advance, using Form-6, starting from the date of this notice. These claims will be considered and decided in the respective quarter of the year in reference to the respective qualifying date.

Draft Publication of photo electoral roll released at Dimapur

Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, NCS along with Additional Deputy Commissioner & Electoral Registration Officer, Dimapur, Mhalo Humtsoe, NCS and Assistant Election Officer, Dimapur, Toshimongba, released the Draft Publication of the Photo Electoral Roll at the Deputy Commissioner’s Chamber, Dimapur on Friday.

Chang appealed to the political parties present to tie up with their respective polling agents and party workers to assist the Booth Level Officer (BLO) in enrolling new and first-time voters and to help till the process of addition, deletion and changes are made in the draft publication.

ADC & Electoral Registration Officer, Dimapur, Mhalo Humtsoe, NCS informed that special camps for enrolling new and first-time voters will be held in different areas in Dimapur. She also requested the different political parties to help in creating awareness in their respective areas so that eligible voters can enroll.

All the recognized political parties present during the draft publication were handed hard copies of Draft Roll during the event.

Draft Publication of Photo Electoral Roll released in Chümoukedima district

In preparation for the Special Summary Revision of the Photo Electoral Roll, the Draft Publication event took place on Friday at the Chümoukedima DC Conference Hall. The event was attended by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of 4-Ghaspani I & 5-Ghaspani II, the supervisor, and representatives from all concerned National and Regional political parties in Chümoukedima District.

During the event, Dr Kuzonyi, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Chümoukedima, provided important information. The period for filing claims and objections for preparing, revising, and updating the electoral roll is set to conclude on 30th November 2023. The disposal of claims and objections is scheduled to be completed by 26th December 2023.

Dr Kuzonyi emphasized the significance of members performing their duties diligently and adhering to the stipulated timeline for submissions, as claims and objections beyond the specified deadline will not be entertained.

Draft Photo Electoral Rolls published in Noklak

Arikumba, the Deputy Commissioner, and District Election Officer (DEO) of Noklak, releasing the Draft Publication of the Photo Electoral Rolls at DC Conference Hall in Noklak on Friday, expressed gratitude for the cooperation displayed by political parties and urged all representatives of political parties to offer their support for all election-related matters.

During the event, Arikumba handed over the Draft Publication of Electoral rolls to the political parties representing the 56 AC Noklak and 57 AC Thonoknyu.

Kathyinla, EAC, and AEO-in-Charge of Noklak, requested the political parties to instruct their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to continue assisting Booth Level Officers (BLOs) throughout the Special Summary Revision period. She also provided information about the ongoing outreach activities conducted by the office of the DC and DEO, which focuses on enrolling Persons with Disabilities, senior citizens, and other vulnerable groups.

The event saw the participation of representatives from various political parties, including NCP, NPP, BJP, INC, and NDPP.

Shamator DEO informs political parties to collect Electoral Roll

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer in Shamator has issued a crucial notice to all political parties representing the 58 Assembly Constituency Shamator-Chessore to collect the Electoral Roll, which has been meticulously prepared in accordance with the Registration of Electoral Rules 1960.

The DEO has informed that copies of the Electoral Roll are available at the DEO Office for the convenience of political parties. It is essential to note that the qualifying date for the preparation of the Electoral Roll is January 1, 2024.
