Drones banned in Dimapur, Chumoukedima, Medziphema & Niuland for I-Day security

Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Aotula T Imchen, IPS, has prohibited the operation of drones or Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) in designated “Red Zones” on August 15, 2025, as part of heightened security measures for Independence Day celebrations.

In an order, issued under Rule 24 of the Drone Rules, 2021, the Commissioner of Police has temporarily declared a 0.2 km radius around key locations as no-fly zones from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m.on August 15. The restricted areas include:

  1. Dimapur DDSC Stadium (25°54’54″N, 93°43’41″E)
  2. Chümoukedima Smuggling Stadium (25°45’38″N, 93°32’09″E)
  3. Medziphema Public Ground (25°45’38″N, 93°53’09″E)
  4. Niuland Public Ground (25°56’09″N, 93°57’42″E)

The police have stated that no person shall operate drones in these areas without prior permission from the competent authority. The order has been passed in view of security concerns and will be enforced strictly.

The Commissioner of Police has urged the public to cooperate to ensure a safe and peaceful Independence Day celebration.
