In the interest of public health safety and compliance of mandatory legal provision, the Drugs Control Administration, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima, Nagaland has issued the following advisory for information to all citizen:
i. Collect cash memo/ credit memo for all medicine purchased as it is a legal documents for further investigation.
ii. Purchase medicine only from pharmacies with valid Drugs License and thus verify its validity through third party verification in ONDLS portal.
iii. Buy from Pharmacy where the medicines are dispensed by Registered Pharmacist who will be in uniform (white coat/ apron) with name tag and registration number.
iv. Report through Toll free number; 1800 180 3024 for any Adverse Drugs Reaction or serious side effects.

v. Report to District Drugs Control Administration unit under Chief Medical Officer Office for any side effect or any drugs having less effect or no effect so that necessary investigation can be initiated.
vi. Always check for critical information: Brand & Generic Name (e.g., “Panadol” (Brand) /Paracetamol (Generic)); Manufacturer’s Name & Address; Batch Number, Manufacturing Date, and Expiry Date. NEVER USE EXPIRED MEDICINES; Dosage Strength.; Store medicines as per the direction given in the cover, label etc. for better therapeutic action.
vii. Prescription from Registered Medical Practitioner is a mandatory legal document for possession of drugs/medicines under Schedule –H and H1 of the Drugs and Cosmetic Rules so never purchase such medicines without prescription or consultation with Physician “ Such medicines are dangerous for health if not used properly”
