Dy CM Y Patton launches SDPDB Bhandari; MLA Kikon seeks support for area achieve districthood

Bhandari (Wokha): Patton gives credit to Kikon for implementation of SDPDB Bhandari

Deputy Chief Minister Home & Border Affairs, Nagaland, Yanthungo Patton inaugurated the Sub-Divisional Planning & Development Board (SDPDB) Bhandari on 5th October 2023 in the presence of Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor, Agriculture, Nagaland and Chairman, DPDB Wokha, and MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe.

During the occasion, Special Guest Y Patton acknowledged the citizens of Bhandari for reposing faith in their MLA, Achumbemo Kikon while also congratulating the area MLA and the citizens for the achievement.

Patton mentioned that he started his political career from Bhandari and through the support of friends and well wishers from Bhandari, he will be celebrating his silver anniversary as an elected representative of Nagaland Legislative Assembly this year. He said that in this long term as a public leader, he is still yet to accomplish many things whereas Kikon has been in the office for few months, he urged the people to support Kikon and help him so that he will be able to achieve something for this constituency.

The Deputy Chief Minister also added that when there is continuous change of elected representative, development does not take place. Stating that although all the four MLAs from Wokha district represent different political parties yet they are under one umbrella, he appealed the people to walked with them irrespective of the political affiliations.

Stressing that their sole purpose was to represent and work for the betterment of the society, he encouraged the citizens to continuously support them so that they can continue to work for them.

Patton said that the inauguration of the SDPDB Bhandari was through the tireless effort and initiative of Achumbemo Kikon.

He remarked that though the Lothas are considered an advance tribe, Bhandari Sub-division still lacks behind when it comes to development and reminded the citizens that any development that takes place in a constituency is not just for the party supporters alone but for the whole populace. So whenever developmental activities come, it is the duty of the citizens to appreciate and support.

Special invitee, MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe in his speech acknowledged Achumbemo Kikon for the achievement and organising such a grant occasion, wishing him best wishes for more initiatives for the people. He also acknowledged the Deputy CM, Y Patton for supporting Kikon in his endeavour.

Agri Advisor & Chairman DPDB, Mhathung Yanthan on his speech congratulated the Lotha Lower Range People for achieving a milestone in inaugurating the SDPDB. He expressed that the present Government is of the believed that planning process should begin at the grassroot level, that is why agencies like DPDB and SDPDB are entrusted to review areas where development needs to take place. And as for Bhandari, realising the need to have such a board, the Government has taken this step, he said and assured his support to the constituency for the growth and progress of the Sub-division.

Earlier, MLA and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, in his welcome address, expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Rio on behalf of all the Bhandari citizens for granting them this SDPDB status. He also expressed his gratitude to Deputy CM, Y. Patton for his help. He further thanked Deputy CM, Incharge of Planning and Transformation, T.R Zeliang for helping them in putting this agenda in the State Level Planning Board Meeting and getting approved at the State Level through his active initiative.

Kikon stating that the citizens of Bhandari were struggling and striving to a get district status, and appealed to the ‘higher ups’, Deputy CM, MLAs, Advisors present in the occasion to cooperate and extend support to them in their aspiration and struggle to get through the district status.

Kikon hoped that with the launch of SDPDB Bhandari, planned development in the constituency will take place in the area. One important thing that we need in Nagaland is that we need to have proper planning which will improve the economy and standard of living of the people, the MLA said.
