Four friends from Kiphire have started a noble initiative called Eastern Enterprise, a one-stop centre that intends to promote exchange of ideas among the youth, to guide them and to empower them by providing services to build their own businesses and become self-reliant.
This start-up was founded in January 2023 over cups of tea when the discussion among the friends on the future potentials of entrepreneurship led to the realization of the need for a one-stop centre where various organizations could co-exist for long-term benefits, Eastern Enterprise told Nagaland Tribune.
Not even a month down, the group has grown, and the organisational structure is set.
“Our team consists of 19 members, including four founding members, three members of the advisory board, and twelve representatives,” said Lumtsingse L Sangtam, one of the founding members.
The aim of the group is to empower job seekers, entrepreneurs, and service providers, to be the bridge between them and help them work towards a common objective for positive social change in the community.
Eastern Enterprise’s vision is to connect individuals and businesses with the right job opportunities and resources so that both entities achieve their fullest potentials.
The start-up recently initiated ‘Project Work and Earn’ where trainees were made to sell tea to instil dignity of labour and to help them raise funds. Another objective of the project was to teach the youth entrepreneurial skills.
By encouraging individuals to be productive, the project has produced impressive results in terms of income generation and valuable experience for volunteers, Eastern Enterprise said.
Out of many aspirations included in their action plan, the team said that one its major aim is to bring courier service to Kiphire in near future.
