As per sources privy to the meeting said that the ENLU and the Eastern frontal organizations had a brainstorming discussion and exchange their views on the proposed Frontier Naga Territory and overall, the meeting was fruitful and positive.

Sources also said that the Cabinet Ministers of ENLU apprised the house of the recent cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi earlier this month.

The entire Nagaland cabinet along with Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer and Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha held a meeting with the Union of Home Minister Amit Shah, and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) earlier this month.

It is also learnt that ENGOA during the coordination meeting had also raised their concerns on the draft proposal of FNT and presented a power point presentation.

Mention may be made that when the State government recommended for an Autonomous Council for the Eastern Region in 2011, ENPO and its frontal organizations had rejected it and at this juncture there is no question of accepting an autonomous council.

Sources said that the MHA had informed ENPO during their talks that a new model of the country will be implemented in the Eastern Nagaland and if it is successful then the said model will also be replicated in other parts of the country.

As per Power Minister and Government Spokesperson K.G. Kenye tripartite talks will begin soon. Significantly, Kenye had also mentioned that suggestions are pouring in that any nomenclature given for the Eastern people should consider the word ‘Nagaland’ and not ‘Naga’.
