Eastern Theological College (ETC) Jorhat celebrated the Tsüngremmung festival under the theme “Celebrating Culture, Building Community” at the college auditorium on August 2. The event was organized by the Ao Students of ETC and brought together faculty, students, and invited dignitaries in a display of Ao cultural heritage and communal harmony.
Nagaland Legislative Assembly speaker Sharingain Longkumer graced the celebration as the chief guest. In his address, Longkumer emphasized that festivals like Tsüngremmung play a vital role in bringing people together. He stated that such celebrations foster happiness, promote the exchange of good cultural values, and strengthen the sense of unity and togetherness among the community.

Principal of Eastern Theological College Rev. Prof. Dr. Razouselie Lasetso attended the celebration as the guest of honour and delivered greetings on the occasion.
The programme commenced with an invocation by Prof. Dr. Lovely Awomi James, followed by a welcome address from Lanutoshi Jamir, a student representative from BD III.
Prof. Rev. Dr. Sashikaba Kechutzar delivered an address on “The Spirit of Tsüngremmong,” emphasizing the festival’s spiritual and cultural importance.
The cultural segment included a folk song performance and a special presentation by the students.
Imkongsunep Longkumer from D.Th II delivered the vote of thanks, and the event concluded with a benediction by Dr. Lipoknela Ozukum.
Following the formal programme, traditional games were exhibited, leading into the Tsüngremmung community feast sponsored by Ao families in Jorhat community.
