EC changes date of counting votes for Arunachal and Sikkim Assembly elections

The Election Commission of India has revised the date of counting votes for the State Legislative Assembly elections of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. Earlier the date of counting was scheduled to be held on 4th June 2024 on the same day as vote counting will take place for the Lok Sabha elections, Legislative elections for Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and Bye Elections in 21 constituencies spread across 13 States.

EC has on Sunday announced that the counting of votes in the two North East States will now be held on 2 June 2024 in view of the term of house of both Legislative Assemblies expiring on 2 June 2024.

The elections in both states will be held on 19 April 2024.

There are 60 seats in the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly while Sikkim has 32.
