The Baal Aadhaar Registration Counter for Aadhaar linked Birth Registration for children aged 0-5 years through the Child Enrolment Lite Client (CELC) kit was formally launched by Akunu S Meyase, Secretary Economics & Statistics Department at the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Kohima on March 17.

The Aadhaar Linked Birth Registration for children aged 0-5 years will ensure that every child is registered at birth and linked with Aadhaar. Biometrics are not captured during Aadhaar enrolment of a child (0-5 age group) and need to be updated at the age of 5 and 15. The early registration of children in the national identity system will ensure their inclusion in various government services and welfare schemes and help support better planning and delivery of child-centric programmes.

The Department requests the general public to come forward and avail the Aadhaar Linked Birth Registration for children under the age group of 0-5 years by visiting the designated enrolment centre available at the Directorate.
