Kohima: The ECI visit assumes significance as Nagaland is one of the states that will face election in a short time

The Election Commission of India (ECI) led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners, Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel, arrived in Kohima on Friday evening.

According to a DIPR report, the ECI, upon arrival, had a separate meeting with the various political parties of the state and enforcement agencies (both central and state) at de Oriental Grand Hotel, Kohima.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar, IAS, and state police nodal officers also gave a presentation on poll preparedness during the occasion.

Later, the ECI also had an interaction with the first-time voters.

The report noted that the ECI visit assumes significance as Nagaland is one of the states that will face election in a short time.

Earlier, the ECI team, accompanied by a host of senior officials from the Election Commission, was warmly welcomed by the CEO and other senior government officials.
