Election General Observer to 56th Noklak & 57th Thonoknyu Assembly Constituencies, Dr. M. Muthukumar, IAS held a meeting with the intending candidates of the two constituencies for Nagaland Legislative Assembly at DC Conference Hall, Noklak on 13 February 2023.
Dr. Muthukumar appealed to all the candidates and voters to be free, fair and transparent for the successful conduct of the election. The Observer elaborated on the guidelines and rules set by the Election Commission of India and stated that all candidates must follow them as given by the Commission.
He further requested for proper co-ordination between the District Election machineries and political parties.

Deputy Commisioner and District Election Officer Noklak, K. Mhathung Tsanglao explained in detail the election Model Code of Conduct while, requesting all the candidates to adhere, maintain and follow the MCC while campaigning.
Mentioning that the district, after its formation, will be having election for the first time, he reminded the candidates and political parties to take proper permission from their respective Returning Officers of 56th and 57th A/Cs while conducting rallies and meetings. Further, the DC & DEO advised candidates to avoid personal criticisms.
In 56th Noklak A/C, H. Haiying of Bharatiya Janata Party and P. Longon of Nationalist Congress Party will have a face off, while Benei M. Lamthiu of National People’s Party, S. Heno Khiamniungan of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party and L. Khumo Khiamniungan of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will be battling for 57th Thonoknyu A/C.
