Old Aree village has reported a series of elephant attacks this month, causing growing fear and concern among residents.

According to the Old Aree village chairman, Liponthung Lotha at least five huts, along with sugarcane and tapioca farms have been destroyed in December alone.

He informed that elephants are currently stationed in two separate groups—one in the Longkhum area and the other near the village making movement difficult and unsafe for the villagers. He added that the animals come so close at night that their presence can be clearly heard, leaving the community worried for their life and safety.
