The District Employment Exchange (Model Career Centre), Mokokchung, in partnership with the National Career Service (NCS), hosted a highly successful job fair at the District Employment Office, Mokokchung on Friday.

The job fair featured the participation of five prominent companies: Longpok Holdings, Talent Acquaintance, SBI Life Insurance, NSDC & Skill India, and Jio Telecom. These companies played a pivotal role in attracting a substantial turnout of over 100 job seekers from diverse educational and professional backgrounds. The fair served as a critical platform for these individuals to connect directly with potential employers, offering employment opportunities across various sectors.

Throughout the event, job seekers had the chance to apply for multiple roles, leading to 127 candidates being shortlisted for further evaluation by the participating companies. The companies will proceed with additional screening processes and will issue offer letters to the selected candidates. Once all formalities are completed, the companies will inform the District Employment Office of the final outcomes.

T. Imlikumzuk Sangtam, the District Employment Officer of Mokokchung, addressed the pressing issue of unemployment. He highlighted that unemployment is a significant concern across all states in India, with varying numbers but a consistent underlying problem. Sangtam noted that, according to registrations at the Employment Exchange Office, Nagaland alone has 70,000 unemployed youth. He added that if those who are not registered are included, the number would be even higher. “In light of these issues, we have collaborated with recruiting agencies to help mitigate the unemployment problem, even if only slightly,” Sangtam stated.

The District Employment Officer expressed his gratitude to the participating companies, job seekers, and the media for their role in making the event a success. He also extended his thanks to the District Skill Committee (DSC) Member Secretary for his presence and encouragement. “The collaboration with the National Career Service has been instrumental in bringing this job fair to life. Our goal is to continue providing these opportunities to the community, ensuring that job seekers have access to meaningful employment,” Sangtam concluded.
