The Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) has opposed the proposed centralisation of the Constabulary Oral Interview for the Nagaland Police Recruitment-2026 at Dimapur, stating that such a move is likely to cause inconvenience to candidates from remote and interior regions, particularly those from eastern Nagaland.
In a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP) on Wednesday, the ENLU convener and minister P Paiwang Konyak stated that a substantial number of aspirants hailing from far-flung areas where poor connectivity, acute accommodation constraints and financial limitations render travel to a centralised examination centre an “undue and unjust burden”. Directing the state police chief to take serious note of the proposal, Konyak stated that such an approach runs contrary to the spirit of equitable access and inclusive recruitment.

“In view of these compelling concerns, the Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union strongly insist that the Oral Interview be conducted in the respective districts, strictly in adherence to the decentralized recruitment policy. Any deviation from this policy will not only exacerbate logistical and economic hardships but also undermine fairness, transparency and equal opportunity in the recruitment process,” the letter said.
It further stated that the matter is to be accorded “top most priority” and necessary action be taken accordingly.
