The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has temporarily suspended the Public Emergency following its Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting which was convened on July 3, at its headquarter in Tuensang.

“As a significant measure aimed at fostering mutual understanding and pursuing a peaceful resolution regarding the creation of FNT by the Government of India, the ongoing public emergency in Eastern Nagaland, which was declared on February 5, 2024, has been temporarily suspended. This suspension is subject to review in the event of compelling circumstances,” stated a press release by the Media Cell (ENPO).

The ENPO has also clarified that ”we are discussing ULB nominees because an election took place. Eastern Nagaland did not participate in that election. Simply put, no election means no nominees. Therefore, the question of appointing nominees to the ULB in Eastern Nagaland areas does not arise. So also, the Chenmoho resolution and the ULB nomination process are closely intertwined,” stated the press release.
