Enrollment drive on PMMVY carried out at Chiephobozou

An enrolment drive on Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and an awareness programme on women-centric welfare schemes under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative were carried out on July 25 at CDPO Office, Chiephobozou, Kohima.

Elaborating on women centric schemes, Kesoneinuo Kense, Gender Specialist, DHEW Kohima mentioned that PMMVY was a conditional maternity-benefit schme of the government of India implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development using the platform of the Anganwadi Services to providing partial financial support for pregnant and lactating mothers to improve the health and nutrition during pregnancy and after-delivery as well as compensation for wage loss, if any etc.

She said the criteria list includes, women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, women who are partially (40 percent) or fully disabled (Divyang Jan), women holder of BPL/ National food Security Act 2013 ration cards, women beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY) under Ayushman Bharat, women holding e-Shram cards, women farmers who are beneficiaries under Kisan Samman Nidhi, women holding MGNREGA job card, women whose net family income is less than Rs. 8 Lakh per annum, pregnant and lactating mothers, Anganwadi workers and helpers, ASHA workers and any other category as may be prescribed by the Central Government.

Adding that the benefits are giving for the first two live births, provided the second child is a girl child, excluding pregnant women and lactating mothers who are in regular employment with the central or state government or public sector undertakings or those who are in receipt of similar benefits under any law and a beneficiary, is eligible to register in PMMVY till 270 (9 months) days from childbirth.

Stressing on Sakhi- One Stop Centre (OSC), Psycho Social Support Counselor OSC, Kohima, Medochiinuo Chielie said that the OSC has been implemented to provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence and in distress both in public and private spaces under one roof and to facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, temporary shelter, police assistance, psychological and counselling support to fight against any form of violence against women.

She has informed that those affected by violence along with their children (girls of all ages and boys up to 12 years of age) can avail temporary shelter at the OSC for a maximum period of 5 Days. Those anyone facing violence of any kind and are in need of help to call toll- free women helpline number 181, in case calls to 181 are not getting through, they have been advised to dial +91-9485239098.

After the programme, beneficiaries from various villages under Chiephobozou block had availed the online service registration of Aadhaar enrolment for girls aged 0–5 years which was facilitated by the District Administration in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare, and Opening of Indian Post Payments Bank (IPPB) accounts by the Department of Post. The awareness drive was organized by the Kohima District Administration in collaboration with SANKALP – District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative.
