An enrolment drive under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and an awareness program on various women-centric welfare schemes was conducted at the Students’ Library Hall, Kezoma village, Kohima on July 21. The event was organized by the Kohima District Administration in collaboration with SANKALP-District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative.
The program aimed to reach rural women and girl child with access to vital services and information about schemes targeted at their health and empowerment.

Speaking at the event, Centre Administrator and OSD, Vimenu Richa elaborated on the services provided by the Sakhi-One Stop Centre, which offers integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence. Richa said that the centre provides: emergency medical aid, police facilitation legal aid, counseling and temporary shelter.
She also highlighted the 24×7 availability of the centre and urged women to access these services whenever needed, stressing the importance of timely intervention and community support in ensuring women’s safety and well-being.
As part of the outreach initiative, the following services were provided: On-the-spot Aadhaar enrollment for girls aged 0–5 years, facilitated by the District Administration in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and opening of Indian Post Payment Bank (IPPB) Accounts by the Department of Post.
