The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) on Thursday launched the first phase of its agitation across Eastern Nagaland, following the lapse of its ultimatum served to the Department of School Education (DoSE) regarding the retention and deployment of teachers in the region.
In a mass communique issued on September 10, the ENSF stated that the agitation was necessitated by concerns over the recent rationalisation exercise affecting schools in Eastern Nagaland. As part of the first phase, all federating units have been directed to seal the offices of the District Education Officers (DEOs) and Sub-Divisional Education Officers (SDEOs) in their respective jurisdictions. The federation has also called upon its units to ensure that the protest remains peaceful and democratic until further directives are given.
In pursuance of the directive, the Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) on Thursday announced the sealing of the SDEO office in Noklak with effect from September 11. The KSU stated that the step was taken in light of the ENSF’s call and as part of the first phase of agitation.
Kiphire:

The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC), in collaboration with the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF), on Thursday sealed the offices of the District Education Officer (DEO) in Kiphire and the Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO) in Longkhim, Tuensang.
The move came as part of the first phase of the ENSF’s democratic agitation against the Department of School Education’s (DoSE) recent rationalisation exercise carried out on August 22, 2025.
According to the Federation, the rationalisation process had left several schools across Eastern Nagaland without subject teachers, as transfers were affected without providing relievers. To address this, the ENSF submitted a representation to the department on August 26, 2025, seeking retention or redeployment of teachers in affected schools. However, with the demand left unattended, the Federation directed its units to carry out peaceful office sealing in all DEO and SDEO offices across Eastern Nagaland beginning September 11.
