The third Erudite (Post Graduate) festival, a two days event, of St. Joseph College (A) Jakhama, themed “Envision, Exert, and Excel,” began on February 23 at St. Joseph College Indoor Stadium.
Yirmiyan Arthur Yhome, the Deputy Director for Photography and storytelling at Asia Pacific Associated Press (AP) graced the inaugural as the Chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Yhome shared her 20 years of experience in the field of media and spoke on the importance of zeal and cultural identity. Yhome encouraged students to believe in themselves and seek meaningful connections.
Sivasish Biswas, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Diphu Campus, delivered the keynote address sharing constructive experiences as a professor at St. Joseph College and his interactions with Naga students at Assam University.
Meanwhile, Fr. Dr. Keduolhou Angami, the Principal of St. Joseph College, Jakhama, in his welcome address, mentioned that the festival is primarily organized for postgraduate students to cultivate their academic interests. He highlighted the role of extracurricular activities in shaping students’ character and enhancing their educational journey.
The first Erudite festival, an annual fest of the Post Graduates in St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Jakhama, was introduced in the year 2022 to provide a platform for the PG students to inculcate healthy competition in academics and develop their skills needed to be an active and efficient educated person in society.

Jipsing Taro, Convenor, Organising committee mentioned that Erudite Festival provides the platform for students of every department in the PG section to compete in various competitions and activities which are carefully and thoughtfully planned to bring the best out of the students. “The event gives students of various talents and capabilities to shine as they plan, organise and compete in the event. It also showcases the web of academic beauty as it gives the opportunity of varied departments with their respective specialisation to come together, express, share and learn from one another,” stated Taro.
As the 3rd Erudite Fest commence, the Convenor exuded optimism that student will witness another academic concert of knowledge, expansion of perspectives and upskilling.
“It will be an event that remain not just as another experience but an experience which will make the students realise their potentials and be more equipped to face the world and make it better as they also continue to shine,” stated Taro.
