In a major boost to Deputy Chief Minister Yanthung Patton ahead of the 2023 state elections, ex MLA and intending candidate from 37 Tyui Assembly Constituency, Yankithung Yanthan, along with his supporters officially declared their support to Y Patton today in a declaration programme held here at Y Patton’s private residence in Wokha.
Yankithung Yanthan is considered as the strongest opponent of Y Patton and has been contesting against the deputy CM for the last three consecutive terms from 37 Tyui A/C since 2008.
In the last 2018 general elections, Yanthan contested from an NPF ticket and secured 8,422 votes whereas Patton secured 11,298 votes. There are 21 villages under 37 Tyui A/C.
Yanthan had served as an MLA to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly representing 37 Tyui A/C from 2003 to 2008.
Upon his declaration supporting Y Patton, Yanthan along with his supporters joined the Saffron party strengthening not only Y Patton’s position but the party as well.
Addressing the gathering, Y Patton expressed his gratitude to Y Yanthan for extending his support to bring better changes for the Lotha community.
Patton stated that from today his supporters and the supporters of Yankithung Yanthan are counted as one numbering to more than 20,000.
“Together as one, we will work together and go forward for the success of achievement and bring better changes in the lives of the people,” said Patton.
Ex MLA Yankithung Yanthan, in his brief address, asserted that he is positive and that joining hands with the BJP is not for his benefit but for the betterment of his people and to make 37 Tyui A/C the best. He said the decision was taken along with his supporters.
Yanthan lauded Y Patton for his good deeds for his people stating that development is visible in and around Wokha district particularly.
“I have joined BJP and Y Patton to help him win in this upcoming election,” Yanthan said.
Furthermore, he requested everyone present in the venue to help and give support and to come together to do their best to help Y Patton in this election.
