The Excise department personnel manning inter-state check gate at Khuzama under Kohima district seized 257 grams of suspected heroin drugs worth an estimated Rs.7,71,000 of street value on September 10.
A statement from the department said during routine checking of vehicles, a duty party headed by assistant inspector of excise Kezhasolie Kehie intercepted a passenger bus bearing registration MNO1-2198 and upon searching the vehicle 22 soap cases of “shanflower” drugs were recovered from the overhead compartment inside the bus.
In this connection, a passenger identified as Haisosap Disong (36) claimed ownership of the drugs, thereby he was apprehended and a case has been registered under section 21 (c) of the NDPS Act 1985. The accused is a permanent resident of Magulong Tamei under Tamenlong district of Manipur, presently residing at Kanglatombi, Imphal.

Upon interrogation, the accused stated to have admitted that he intended to transport the illegal drugs to Dimapur.
The department said a prima-facie case has been established against the accused for violation of Section 8 of NDPS Act 1985 and the court has been requested to take cognizance and register a case against the accused U/S 21(c) of NDPS Act 1985.
A separate request for sample drawal has been made to the court from the exhibit to be sent to designate FSL outside the state for chemical test and analysis.
The case is said to be under active investigation.
