Exquisite handicrafts and handloom products of Noklak exhibited at TRIFED Tribal Artisan Empanelment Mela

Noklak: DC emphasizes importance of enhancing both quantity and quality of Noklak’s unique crafts

The Tribal Artisan Empanelment Mela was organised by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED) in Noklak on 25th September 2023. According to DIPR, the mela is focused on “Marketing and Logistics Development for Promoting Tribal Products from the North Eastern Region.”

Deputy Commissioner Noklak Arikumba, NCS, along with a team of dedicated members and the Project Coordinator from Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission attended the mela.

In his speech, DC Arikumba commended the tremendous talent of the people of Noklak in crafting exquisite handicrafts and handloom products. He urged the community to continue their exceptional production efforts and assured them that the government is actively engaged in promoting tribal products and facilitating improved market linkages. He emphasized the importance of enhancing both quantity and quality to showcase the unique talent of Noklak to the world.

The inauguration program was chaired by Mhathung, Project Coordinator of Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM). The event also featured brief speeches by representatives from TRIFED and Khumo, President of the Noklak District Handicrafts and Handloom Cooperative (NDHHC). The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Phem Shiu, a dedicated team member of NBHM.

This event served as a significant step toward empowering tribal communities in the North Eastern Region by promoting their traditional craftsmanship and products. It showcased the commitment of various stakeholders to foster economic growth and cultural preservation in the region.
