A one day farmers training cum input distribution programme on pigeon pea was held on February 20 at Mhainamtsi Village in Peren district.

Dr Akumla longchar, Scientist (Plant breeding) deliberated on the topic “Package and practices of pigeon pea” which was followed by a topic on “Role of legumes and Importance of Nipping on pigeonpea” explained by Dr Lowrence Kithan, Scientist( Agronomy).

Dr Tinatoly Sema, Scientist (Entomology) and Kavi Sumi, Scientist (Plant pathology) discussed about the ‘ Managament of diseases and pests of pigeonpea”. The talks were followed by an interaction with the farmers where doubts were raised and cleared.

The welcome address was delivered by Atho Kapfo, District Management unit, Peren while the vote of thanks was given by Reluibamle, Area Co-ordinator, Jalukie Block. Around 30 farmers participated in the programme which was organized by ICAR-AICRP on pigeonpea, under NEH, NU:SAS, Medziphema campus.
