Fazl Ali College and Sherubtse College sign MoU to strengthen academic collaboration

Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung and Sherubtse College under the Royal University of Bhutan have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote international academic cooperation and foster closer ties between the two institutions. The agreement was formalized on August 5 at Sherubtse College, Kanglung, Bhutan.

In a press release issued by the Information and Publicity Cell of Fazl Ali College, it was informed that the

MoU is aimed at enhancing the exchange of teaching and research experiences, promoting student and faculty mobility, and developing joint academic initiatives. The colleges will collaborate on a wide range of academic activities including sharing academic materials and information, hosting educational visits, exchanging students, organizing joint international seminars and conferences, and conducting collaborative research projects.

Speaking at the signing event, Dr I Wati Imchen, Principal of Fazl Ali College, expressed optimism that the partnership would open new opportunities for both students and faculty members to broaden their perspectives and participate in meaningful academic exchanges. Chewang Rinzin, Vice-Chancellor of Sherubtse College, echoed these sentiments, stating that the collaboration would pave the way for mutually enriching academic experiences based on respect and equality.

As per the MoU signed, the two institutions have agreed to promote international academic cooperation and the exchange of teaching and research experiences. The collaboration is grounded in the objective to develop friendship and mutual interests on a reciprocal basis of respect for independence and equal status of both universities. The institutions have committed to: (a) exchange academic materials and information; (b) mutually receive educational visits by faculty members and researchers; (c) exchange students; (d) hold joint international seminars and conferences; (e) conduct joint research projects; and (f) engage in other activities that enhance mutual understanding and cooperation. Fazl Ali College has designated its Research & Development Cell, while Sherubtse College has appointed the Office of the Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages as their respective nodal offices to ensure the effective implementation of this agreement.

The MoU will be construed as a statement of intent to foster genuine and mutually beneficial academic collaboration. It shall be in effect for five years from the date of signing and will automatically extend for the same duration unless either party submits a written intent for termination at least six months before the expiry date.
