Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus and South Koreas Cho Gue-Sung scored two goals each in a high scoring game on Monday which Ghana won 3-2.

Ghana took the lead in the 24th minute when a free kick delivered by Jordan Ayew from the right could not be cleared and ended on the feet of Salisu, who put the ball into the net.

Ten minutes later, Jordan Ayew delivered yet another perfect cross for Mohammed Kudus to head into the back of the net to double Ghana’s lead.

In the second half, South Korea’s attacking persistence saw success.

Cho Gue-sung scored two headed goals in quick succession to equalise the score, the first one off a cross from Y-Kim and the second one by a cross from Lee Kang-in.

However, Ghana quickly restored its lead when Kudus scored his second goal by driving a well-placed shot to the right corner.

South Korea’s barrage of shots – 22 shots with 7 on target – was not enough for them to defeat Ghana.

South Korea’s start forward seemed to be out of form and missed some good chances, especially in the second half.

The defeat against Ghana leaves South Korea with a must-win game against Portugal.

In the other match of Group H, Portugal defeated Uruguay 2-0 to qualify for the knock-out rounds.

In a match much dominated by Portugal, Bruno Fernandes scored Portugal’s first goal in the 54th minute when a cross directed towards Ronaldo swung into the net. Initially, the goal was attributed to Ronaldo, who appeared to claim the goal by the way he celebrated. However, the goal was verified and attributed to Bruno Fernandes.

In the second half, Bruno Fernandes scored his second goal from a penalty kick in extra time. He scored with a shot to the right, having sent the keeper the wrong way.

The penalty was given for a handball by Bendancur, when he touched the ball while getting down after a tackle move.

In extra time, Fernandes nearly score his third goal for a hattrick. Unfortunately, Uruguan keeper Rochet saved one of his shots while another attempt rebounded off the right post.

Portugal tops the group with two wins from two games and has qualified for the knock-out rounds. South Korea has another tough match against Portugal, while Ghana play Uruguay. South Korea and Uruguay are in must-win situations.
