The Film Association of Nagaland (FAN) has constituted a new team. According to DIPR, the new team is led by Yapangnaro Longkumer as its new President while Tiakumzuk Aier is the Vice President. The team also consists of Athe Rhi as the General Secretary, Gaichungpou Gonmei as the Finance Secretary, Vibou Seyie as the Assistant Finance Secretary, while Imnasenla Vero and Supongnukshi Pongener are Press Secretary.
Film Association of Nagaland is a cohesive collective of professionals in the film industry in Nagaland. Established in 2018, it stands as a registered non-governmental and non-profit organization with approximately 50 dedicated members. The association comprises filmmakers, cinematographers, editors, actors, videographers, scriptwriters, sound technicians, and more. The primary objective of the Association is to enrich the film community through skill development and storytelling, and to cultivate an appreciation for good cinema, documentaries, short films, feature films, and all cinematic forms.
Film Association of Nagaland in collaboration with the Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Nagaland, organized the 2nd Nagaland Film Festival from October 31st to November 1st, 2019. The festival celebrated the best of North Eastern films, featuring 17 remarkable productions. A competition in Best Short Fiction and Best Short Documentary category was also conducted.
FAN orchestrated the 3rd Nagaland Film Festival in Kohima, in collaboration with the Directorate of Information & Public Information from December 3rd to 5th, 2021. The festival featured master classes, workshops conducted by prominent figures in the film industry, curators, and media professionals. The festival garnered substantial public participation, facilitating interactions between attendees and filmmakers from diverse parts of India. An online film competition, The New Normal, was also organized during the competition.
On 22nd and 23rd of June 2022, the FAN celebrated the official induction of the Film Association of Nagaland into The Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI). The event was graced by the presence of Vice President of FFSI Asia Pacific, Premendra Mazumdar, as the guest of honour from Kolkata. The occasion marked FAN’s integration into a broader network of film societies across India.
