First annual general meeting of MUSA-PHE held at Zunheboto

The first annual general meeting of MUSA-PHE Cluster-level Federation was organized by NSRLM Zunheboto at Multi-Purpose Hall, Zunheboto on June 28 with the Advisor for Food & Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology, KT Sukhalu, IAS (Rtd) as the Chief Guest.

Speaking at the programme, Sukhalu said that the focus of the SHGs should be on being a producer as it is link to growth and empowers them to be self-reliant which in turn brings financial stability. The Advisor shared his happiness that more than 2,800 potential SHG members from Zunheboto district are helping the nation’s achieve its dream of creating 3 crore Lakhpati Didis.

He personified the growth of SHG by sharing the quote of Michelle Obama “There is no limit to what we as women can accomplish”. He highlighted the achievements of SHGs in other districts of Nagaland to encourage and inspire the SHGs in Zunheboto district. He also praised the district NSRLM team for organizing first annual general meeting of MUSA-PHE Cluster-level Federation by bringing together 1300 households under the fold of SHG in the Zunheboto Block with a goal to  reduce poverty and uplift socio-economic growth of the community.

The Advisor encouraged the Federation to strive towards providing greater space and voice for the women thereby allwing them to become self reliant, and also encouraging the remaining households to join the SHGs. He, further, emphasized the Federation to make concerted efforts in partnering with the Government, public and private sectors for last mile delivery. He concluded his address with the proverb “Don’t eat the seed, but eat the fruit”.

Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, IAS, also encouraged the SHGs in the district to focus more on packaging and promotion of their products, adequate use of online platform and to explore market outside the district. He urged the federation to become an employer thereby meeting the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Earlier in the programme, PD-DRDA, ZUNHEBOTO District Phoishe Zhimomi shared the welcome address, invocation by Inakali Zhimo, and a welcome song was presented by Thuwuni VLo-Lochomi.

A general outlook on NSRLM was presented by BMMU staff Zunheboto and a short play on the evolution of SHGs was enacted by Nighuna, VLO Asukhomi village, and experience sharing by Ester P Yeptho, CSP. It was followed by the vote of thanks by Assistant Finance Secretary, MUSA PHE CLF, Khesheli Zhimo and benediction by Ashevi yeptho.
