First Mega Job Expo 2024 held in Mokokchung

The 1st Mega Job Expo, 2024 organized by the Mokokchung District and Development Board (DPDB) and District Skill Committee under the theme “Connecting Careers” was held on January 30 at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung.

Tongpang Ozukum, Advisor, Water Resources, Government of Nagaland and Chairman of DPDB, Mokokchung attended the programme as the Special Guest.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Tongpang Ozukum lauded the organizers for their significant initiative in organizing these two days Mega Job Expo keeping in mind Nagaland’s employment scenario. Though Nagaland is a small state, looking at the ratio, he said that it has the highest government employees with the government employment sector having reached the saturation point. With major portion of development funds utilized in giving salaries, Tongpang stated that the government is now trying to scale down government employees. He, therefore, urged the youths to try to avail the different opportunities provided by private sectors since equal opportunities are provided by them. He opined that it is only when we enjoy working in a diverse environment that we get the opportunity to know others and understand the real meaning of ‘work culture’ and ‘value of money’. Emphasizing on the importance of skills in today’s world, he encouraged the youths to select a job that suits their skills, grab the chance to interact with the recruiting agencies , get the right job based on one’s skills and soar higher in life. He also expressed hope that out of this mega job event many job seekers will be benefited.

Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Business Association of Nagas (BAN)  and Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung are the partners  for this mega job expo. The Logistic Partners are Assam Rifles, Mokokchung Channel, Tir YimYim and The Morung Express. The primary objective of the job expo is to facilitate employment opportunities for unemployed youths of the state. 28 partnering companies are offering job opportunities to the unemployed youths at these two days mega expo.

The programme was hosted by Dr Limasenla Jamir while Thsuvisie Phoji, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, Planning Committee delivered the welcome address.Er. T Imlisunep Ao, Secretary, Planning Committee delivered the keynote address. Short speeches were delivered by Mr Vinod Kumar, Vice Principal, FAC, Mr Mongkum Jamir, President, BAN and Mr Takumi Ishiwatari, Japanese Teacher, Arms Nagaland Centre. Mr P.Tiatemsu , Member, Planning Committee pronounced the vote of thanks.

This mega job expo aims to bring employers and job seekers together on a common platform to promote job opportunities. It also provides opportunities to job seekers to explore potential career paths and secure gainful employment.
