Fishery Dept organises Training Program on Value-Added Products in Kiphire

Kiphire: 30 beneficiaries attending programme aimed to enhance their economic prospects

The Department of Fishery and Aquatic Resources, Kiphire, organized a three-day training program on the importance of fish consumption and the process of making value-added products. The event, held at the District Horticulture Training Hall, aimed to equip 30 beneficiaries from Kiphire district with the skills to enhance their economic prospects.

Sentinungba Longchar, District Horticulture Officer, Kiphire and Lipichem, District Project Officer, Land Resource Department, Kiphire graced the occasion as Guests of Honour. In their addresses, the officers emphasized the potential of fish pickle making to boost the local fishery industry and improve the economy. They encouraged the trainees to innovate and modify their products to increase their market value. The officers also assured the farmers of support from their departments, including the provision of packaging bottles.

Nzanthung, District Fishery Officer, welcomed the gathering, while Esther, a member of Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), led the technical sessions on pickle making, jam making, and candy production.

The training program aimed to empower fish farmers by providing them with the knowledge and skills to create value-added products, thereby enhancing their economic prospects and contributing to the growth of the local fishery industry.
