Flood triggered by heavy rainfall has severely affected the villages of Ronsayan and Jandalashung B in the Ralan area under Bhandari Sub Division, Wokha district. The floods have submerged large parts of residential areas, causing extensive damage to homes, livestock, and infrastructure.

Renben Humtsoe, President of GB Union, Ralan Area, informed that the flood struck overnight on 29th July 2024 and has caused significant losses to paddy fields, fisheries, areca nut plantations, rubber plantations, as well as numerous households and livestock being swept away. He highlighted the immense hardships being faced by the villagers including displacement from their homes, loss of livelihoods, and shortages of basic necessities such as food, clean water, and shelter.

Humtsoe stated that such flooding occurs almost every year, with two instances already this month alone. However, he expressed frustration that despite submitting reports and applications to the relevant authorities each time, no inspections had been conducted and no assistance provided.

Drawing attention to the slow response of the government compared to other states, President of GB Union, Ralan Area, appealed for immediate intervention and further assistance from concerned authorities. He stressed the urgent need for authorities to witness firsthand the hardships faced by villagers due to the floods and to take swift action to alleviate their suffering.
