Forest fire near Tseminyu town doused off with help of community volunteers

A massive fire broke out near Tseminyu town this afternoon. While no casualties has been reported, the Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) in a press release, informed that the fire has damaged various plantations and farmland.

The forest fire was properly doused off before it reach the vicinity of the town with the help of the community volunteers especially youths from Tseminyu village, T. Zisunyu and town youths.

“It is informed that the Fire & Emergency services were also in the station but because of huge fire outrage they could not control on time. It is learn that Fire & Emergency services station is on the completion in Tseminyu but yet to set up it’s office for public wellbeing till date,” mentioned the RSZ.

The youth organisation also noted that because of Jhum cultivation being practiced by Rengmas, the district is prone to forest fire. This has necessitated the establishment of the office of Fire & Emergency services in Tseminyu to counter such kind of incidences in the future.

“Therefore,  the Rengma Selo Zi on behalf of the citizens of Tseminyu appeal to the Govt. of the day and the Department of Fire & Emergency Services to set up the office at the earliest for the safety and protection of environment and wellbeing of the citizens and Its property,” urged the RSZ.
