L. Khumo, Former MLA of 57AC Thonoknyu Constituency was finally laid to rest on February 21 at his private residence in Thonoknyu. Khumo breathed his last after a prolonged sickness on February 20 at his residence in Dimapur. During a funeral service held at Thonoknyu, hundreds from near and far gathered to pay homage to the late MLA.
Along with the family members, various organisations, apex bodies and individuals expressed their sorrow towards the late MLA for his untimely death. The funeral also witnessed the celebration of the late Khiamniungan leader’s life as many expressed their gratitude for the countless good deeds he had done to the community.

L Khumo Khiamniungan started his political career by contesting successfully into the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on NCP Party ticket from 57-Thonoknyu Assembly Constituency in 2013 and was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary for Land Revenue, Village Guards (VG) & Women Resource Development. He contested and got re-elected to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on National People’s Party (NPP)Party ticket in the election held on 27 February 2018 and was appointed as Advisor for Fisheries, Evaluation, Economics & Statistics.

Khumo was not only a political figure for the people of Khiamniungan but was a leading figure where as a youth, he served as President of Pang Village Students Union from 1996-1997 and as an Area Council Member, and Secretary VDB Pang Village. Before starting his political career, Khumo was a Naga national worker where he served as Lieutenant Colonel.

Khumo studied up to Class IX from Government High School Shamator in the year 1988. Despite the little educational qualification, Khumo proved to be a tall leader, who with his sweat, paved the way to the future.
