Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA), organised an exclusive exposure trip to the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Guwahati, for 39 science students from Government Higher Secondary Schools, accompanied by three teacher guides and officials from Samagra Shiksha. The four-day exposure programme was held from December 13 to 16 with the objective of nurturing scientific curiosity and promoting research-oriented thinking among young learners.
IASST, a premier autonomous research institute of national importance, is dedicated to cutting-edge research across diverse domains of science and technology. During the visit, students were given first-hand exposure to advanced research facilities and laboratories, allowing them to experience a professional scientific environment beyond the classroom. The interactions aimed to motivate students to explore careers in science and develop an understanding of contemporary research methodologies.
The students were sensitised to various scientific programmes and facilities, including BIONEST–IASST services, which support innovation and incubation of ideas prior to industry setup. They were encouraged to think innovatively and explore entrepreneurship opportunities in emerging sectors such as bioenergy, diagnostics, nanoscience, food processing and labelling, biopesticides, and allied fields.
