Department of Social Welfare, Tuensang and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Tuensang in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) distributed Free Assistive Devices at Longkhim and Chare at Town Hall, Longkhim on November 22.
The devices distributed include wheelchairs, crutches and hearing aid etc. to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and senior citizens under ADIP and RVY Scheme.
MLA and advisor IT& Communication, Economics & Statistics, Evaluation, H Sethrongkyu Sangtam graced the occasion as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the legislator said that the distribution of Free Assistive Devices under ADIP and RVY Schemes could reach to the persons who require them because of the dedicated and active initiatives officers led by the Tuensang district’s Deputy Commissioner, Chief Medical Officer and District Welfare Officer, and thanked them for their effort in bringing such development to the district.
Sangtam said that the assistive devices were provided after proper assessment by the doctors, which would be helpful for PwDs. He further informed that those who could not attend and avail the devices during the distribution can approach CMO Office Tuensang to avail such facility in the future.
While delivering a short speech, DC Tuensang Lithrongla acknowledged the advisor, Department of Social Welfare Tuensang and CMO Tuensang for their active initiative for bringing development in the district.
The total number of beneficiaries available in Longkhim area under ADIP is 47 and under RVY-366 beneficiaries, while in Chare area the total number of ADIP beneficiaries were 32 and RVY-173.
Earlier, advisor Sangtam also inaugurated PHSNS Range Hall at Longkhim town.
