The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has written a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima against the Assam Rifles IGAR North, D’block for its indulgence in playing loud music during the exam season.

“The Angami Students’ Union is utterly anguished and disturbed by the barbaric act of the Assam Rifles IGAR North D Block, Kohima as their insanity is causing huge inconveniences for the students’ community in particular and the general public at large,” stated the Union in its complaint.

On February 8, the union had issued a press release appealing for noise free environment during the HSLC, HSSLC and CBSE Examinations. However, the Union stated that the Assam Rifles IGAR North at D Block Kohima have since then indulged in playing loud music during unusual hours. In particular, very loud music were played for hours till 10:30pm on February 12 and the same was repeated on February 15, as well as late night till 12:08am on February 16.

“This unwanted conduct has severely disturbed the conducive environment for students preparing and appearing for their exams. Sir, very often, the so called ‘Friends of the hill people’ have been ‘NUISANCE TO THE HILL PEOPLE’, lacking common sense and intellectual sense,” ASU expressed.

Therefore, the Union implored the DC to immediately take necessary measures and actions to curtail such unwanted activities which jeopardizes the fate of the students’ fraternity.

“Also, we implore upon your authority to be vigilant on such offensive activities particularly during the exam period and provide a conducive environment for the students’ community. We place our trust in the district administration and hope that law takes its own course of action,” it appealed.
