Toyota India will present the 23rd edition of the Hornbill Music Festival which will be held at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama from 1–10 December. The event will be officially launched by the Vice Chairman of Toyota Kirkoskar Motor Pvt Ltd, Vikram S Kiloskar and Masakazu Yushemora San, Managing Director Toyota India on 2 December.
This was announced by Hokugha Yeptho, CEO of Okusa Toyota Dimapur in a press conference held today at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Arts (RCEMPA).
He also said during the Hornbill Music Festival, Okusa Toyota will also display CMPV Car New Innova Hy Cross which was launched on 25 November.
Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister stated that Hornbill Music Festival is India’s biggest music event and of all the events that takes place during Hornbill Festival, the Music Festival is the shining star.
He said the music festival brings different countries onto one platform and also highlights the talents, capabilities, energy, vibrancy and the ambition of Naga youth to a global community. Metha added that Hornbill festival in the last 23 years has only continued to grow and this year Nagaland is expecting it to be bigger.
He further informed that the 23rd edition of HMF will feature 24 bands participating over 10 days along with Tiny Fingers – one of Israel best known music bands. The Embassy of Israel, has sponsored them to participate.
The Hornbill Festival will also highlight special Israel Photo Exhibition under the theme-‘Transcending Jerusalem through Indian Lenses’ at the Bamboo Hall, from 10am to 4pm from 2–10 December.
He also mentioned that for the first time, the HMF will be initiating a ‘Festival Outreach Programme’, an initiative sponsored by JK TRUST Raymond, Mumbai. During the festival representatives from JK Trust will come to carry out charitable initiatives for weaker sections of the society. “We are reaching out to orphanages and orphans to have this outreach programme during the Hornbill Festival as part of TaFMA’s outreach programme,” he added.
The festival will also be hosting music workshops in partnership with Embassy of Colombia in India, Culture Monks and Indian Performing Rights Society and N.E.R.D.
Further he said, apart from their partnership with Toyota India some of the key partnerships are with Yes Bank and Samvaad festival, a tribal festival under the TATA Trust.
He informed that one of the giveaway awards of the Samvaad festival held recently at Jamshedpur to its participants was a Hornbill experience. Naga artists also participated in the recently concluded festival.
Metha said as part of partnership with TATA Steel Foundation’s Samvaad festival, Rhythms of the Earth (ROTE) will perform on the main stage on 8 December and at the Night Bazaar on 9 December, supported by KCCI.
Metha also informed that the Hornbill Music Festival will introduce pay per view from 2 – 9 December for those who cannot attend but would like to witness the concerts.
He further appealed to all sections of Naga society to come forward and participate in the festival to strengthen Naga unity.
