The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has reminded once again that the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) was an offer made by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India and not its demand. Considering the decision to accept the FNT offer as its third option, the Organisation further reiterated that it has not surrendered its demand for Statehood.

In a statement issued on June 17, the ENPO asserted, “Please correct that the creation of FRONTIER NAGALAND TERRITORY is an initiative, and offer made by the MHA, Govt. of India, and not a demand from ENPO. The decision to accept this offer (we call it – third option) was discussed and formally approved on January 7, 2023, in a joint co-ordination meeting, at DUDA Guest House in Souvima, Chumoukedima, with the participation from Talk Team, ENLU, Tribal Councils and Frontal Organizations. It should be noted that ENPO have not surrendered its demand for Statehood.”
