Genesis Old Riphyim and Waxen CC booked their places in the semi-finals of the ongoing 30th Winter Cricket Challenge.
In the third quarter-final, Genesis Old Riphyim won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a target of 173 runs in 20 overs for the loss of six wickets. Key contributions came from Nzanthung Mozhui (35), Renjamo Mozhui (47) and Mhachamo (21).
Chasing the target, WDCA were bowled out in 19.5 overs, falling short by 27 runs. Only three batsmen managed to reach double figures— Manta (60), Amrit (21) and Wojanthung Ngullie (25). Renjamo Mozhui of Genesis Old Riphyim was adjudged ‘Man of the Match’ for his 47-run knock.
In the second quarter-final, Hill Strikers opted to bat first and posted 143 runs in 20 overs, losing nine wickets. Samir Ali top-scored with 72 runs, while Sunli Sharma added 18.
Waxen CC chased down the target in 16.4 overs with six wickets to spare. Renben scored 33 runs, Shiva 45, and Alok Sharma 20. Shiva was named ‘Man of the Match’ for his 45-run innings.
