The Annual Games and Sports Meet of Government High School (GHS) Bayavu, Kohima, was conducted from March 10-12 at the school campus (for indoor games) and Meriema Village Ground (for outdoor games).
A press release from the school informed that the Government High School Bayavu Annual Sports Meet 2025 was a resounding success, with three days of thrilling competitions that showcased the students’ athletic prowess. The event was organized by the Sports Committee, comprising Teacher Keneingusa, Vithongunuo, and Physical Education Teacher Kecubole.
The students competed In the following disciplines – football (boys), volleyball (women), arm wrestling, carrom board, 100m, 200m, tug of war, two-legged race among the higher classes, and sweet biting, musical chair, and spoon race among the lower sections.
The GHS Bayavu Football Trophy, played on the final day, was the highlight of the meet, which was lifted by Yellow House, with Red House emerging as the runner-up.

The closing ceremony was marked by prize distributions for various games and sports, where Acting Head Teacher Kikruneinuo Liezietsu delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the community for their invaluable support in shaping the school.
The school authority also extended its appreciation to Avilie Rio, Councillor of Bayavu Ward, for contributing to the sanitation of the school campus during the sports meet preparations; Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, for providing indoor games equipment, including a table tennis board; and Meriema Village Council and Meriema Youth and Sports Association for their services and ground allocation.
The Annual Sports Meet 2025 was a testament to the school’s commitment to promoting physical education, teamwork, and sportsmanship among its students, the school authority stated.
