GHS Forest Colony Kohima gets ₹9.6 lakhs-worth toilet facility

Department of School Education joint secretary Avelu Ruho formally inaugurated the newly constructed toilet facility at Government High School (GHS) Forest Colony, Kohima.

Ruho highlighted that the infrastructure includes five toilets and ten urinals, made possible through initial funding from Samagra Shiksha of ₹5 lakhs, and through a fundraiser hosted by the teaching faculty and contributions from well-wishers. Stating that the facility was completed at a total cost of ₹ 9.6 lakhs, the official highlighted that the structures have been tiled and are well equipped with electricity and water facilities.

Ruho also recalled the school’s humble beginnings in 2009 and attributed the institution’s growth to the collective efforts of the local community, the parents and the commitment of the teaching faculty.

The program featured short speeches from the Forest Colony Council Chairman Peter K Rengma and Albert Tungoe, Graduate Teacher at GHS Forest Colony. A prayer for blessings was offered by Pastor Avi Zao of Faith Harvest Church. Students from Class 7 presented a song and a vote of thanks was proposed by Honoli Y Sumi, Graduate Teacher.

The program was attended by dignitaries including the chairman and the team from Ward-17, chairmen of Forest Colony, Electrical, Mewibogei, Upper Agri colonies and Agri Farm, GBs, SMC, SMDC members, and teachers.
