The fifth day of the 27th Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) Trophy 2025 saw Team Gilgal, Super Seniors FC, and Doyang Strikers Mokokchung register crucial victories to book their places in the quarterfinals.
In the day’s opening match, Team Gilgal defeated Soyim Sports Society (SSS) 2–1 in a Pool A fixture. Merensang Pongen (Jersey No. 4) opened the scoring for Gilgal in the 14th minute, while Moatemsu (Jersey No. 14) equalised for SSS in the 44th minute. Tongpang Jamir (Jersey No. 3) netted the winner for Gilgal in the 48th minute. With this win, Gilgal topped Pool A with six points from two matches, while SSS finished second with three points. KSUM exited the tournament without a win.
In the second encounter, Super Seniors FC bounced back with a 2–0 win over Intermingle Club in Pool B. Following a goalless first half, Nyithung (Jersey No. 21) scored in the 51st minute and Temjenmeren (Jersey No. 7) added another in the 66th minute. Super Seniors FC qualified for the quarterfinals with three points, while Telongjem FC topped the group with four points. Intermingle Club, with a draw and a loss, bowed out of the tournament.

The final match of the day saw Doyang Strikers Mokokchung overcome Nagaland University, Lumami 3–1 in Pool C. NU Lumami’s Ngilei (Jersey No. 14) gave his side an early lead in the 6th minute before Doyang’s Yami (Jersey No. 11) struck twice in the 11th and 15th minutes. Eshong (Jersey No. 7) added a third in the 34th minute to seal it’s victory. Doyang Strikers topped Pool C with six points, followed by Thunderbolt FC with three points, while NU Lumami exited after two losses.
In Pool D, which has only two teams, Chargers FC and Sangpang Riju SC both advanced to the quarterfinals with three and zero points, respectively.
The quarterfinal fixtures are as follows:
The first quarterfinal will feature Team Gilgal taking on Super Seniors FC on October 20 at 12:00 PM, followed by the second match between Doyang Strikers FC and Sangpang Riju SC later in the day.
On October 21, the third quarterfinal will see Telongjem FC face Soyim Sports Society (SSS), followed by the final quarterfinal match between Chargers FC and Thunderbolt FC.
