Double gold medalist Nahtei Konyak was felicitated today by the Mon Battalion under the aegis of HQ 7 SECTOR Assam Rifles/ HQ IGAR (North) at the Assam Rifles Camp.

The promising runner belongs to Longwa Village under Mon District.

Nahtei Konyak won two gold medals in the events 10000 meters and 1500 meters race at the 2nd Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022 held at Kohima.

Speaking at the programme, Nahtei said he wanted to encourage his tribesmen to join the army and expressed his hopes that the Mon Battalion would guide and train the youths.

The young man was selected to serve in the Assam Rifles force under the Sports Quota during the rally conducted at Imphal. He will be joining the training centre soon.
