Goodwill School Mon holds 2nd Annual Sports Meet

The Goodwill School, Mon held its 2nd Annual Sports Meet on 26 and 27 March 2025, bringing together students and teachers, in a celebration of athleticism and school spirit.

A press release from the school informed that the two-day extravaganza featured various competitions showcasing the talents and determination of students across different sports. It stated that Goodwill School’s Annual Sports Meet not only fostered a spirit of competition but also built camaraderie and lasting memories among students and staff alike. The event reiterated the belief that while winning is good, the true essence of sports lies in participation and personal growth, the school added.

Earlier on 26 March 2025, Headmaster Nahtei Konyak hoisted the school flag which was followed by the singing of the school anthem. The opening ceremony was chaired by Apham while Echi said the invocation. Kaiba W, proprietor, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, setting an encouraging tone for the days ahead.

In her inspiring speech Monyu W spoke about the significance of sports in school life, emphasizing that sports play a crucial role in holistic development, fostering not only physical health but also enhancing mental well-being. “Engaging in sports contributes to a healthier lifestyle, reduces stress, and boosts self-esteem,” she stated. Monyu W underscored the importance of building life skills such as teamwork and leadership through sports. Additionally, she encouraged students to participate not merely for victory but for the invaluable learning experiences sports provide, urging them to aim for personal improvement with each game.

Also during the opening ceremony, Moba performed the symbolic lighting of the torch, signifying the importance of light and inspiration in all endeavours. The event further included a special segment led by Anthony Konyak, who managed the oath-taking ceremony. The House Captains took the stage to raise their respective house flags, pledging to uphold the values of fair play, respect for all teams, discipline, and unity through sportsmanship.

The 2nd Annual Sports Meet was then officially declared open by Wangchat Konyak, Assistant Headmaster.
