Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan graced the 2nd convocation ceremony St. Joseph University at Ikishe Model Village, Chümoukedima on Friday DIPR informed.
Addressing the Convocation ceremony, Governor Ganesan congratulated the students who have received their Under Graduate, Post Graduate, and Doctoral Degrees and have completed the rigorous sessions of instruction and training in this Institute. He said that the convocation ceremony is a defining moment for all of them, a day when they look back on the many challenges they have overcome, and look forward to the future, knowing that they have the skills and knowledge needed to meet them- a day that they will never forget.
Governor said that enormous challenges and opportunities are waiting for them in the outside world, and they will have to face these challenges and work with unwavering dedication to make their contribution to self-development and the betterment of the society.
“It is the moment of taking crucial life decisions, society demands much more from today’s youth than it was ten years back. Many thumb rules are seen governing our lives but for success, there are no laid down rules except hard work, planning, and execution,” he stated.
In addition, he said it was important on the occasion to recognize not only their efforts but the efforts of their family members who have supported them on their journeys, as the opportunity to pursue higher education rarely comes without a cost to the student’s family – whether that cost is financial, or whether it involves sacrifices of time or the accumulation of responsibilities that allow the learner to focus on his or her studies.
He said that the University has already made its impact in the field of higher education providing quality education and has been able to build up a team of highly talented and motivated faculties and possessing as one of its goals, of becoming one of the best Universities in the country and abroad.
He congratulated every person associated with SJU for working towards building this institution with sincerity and unfailing dedication to bring the Institute to this position and to take it beyond to fulfil all its goals.

He told the graduands that the graduation certificate is a huge responsibility of applying their knowledge for the welfare of society. He said that real education starts after they leave the University and face the real world on their own. Therefore, he encouraged them to be prepared to roll up their sleeves and tackle the manifold problems plaguing our society which requires sincere efforts to resolve them.
He concluded the convocation with a Quotation of Swami Vivekananda – “Education is not the amount of information that is put into your brain. We must have life-building, man-making, character-making assimilation of ideas.”
Earlier, Governor La Ganesan and other dignitaries presented certificates to 888 Graduates and awarded certificates and medals to 16 UG (Gold) and 16 UG (Silver); 15 PG (Gold) and 15 PG (Silver) and 2 to Ph.D.
The special guest of the ceremony was Group Head-Emerging Corporate Group HDFC Bank Ltd, Ravesh Bhatia. Other dignitaries, officials, and faculties, apart from Graduands attended the convocation ceremony.
