Botsa (Kohima): NGO Doctors for You, Boeing India provide critical equipment including one ambulance to Botsa PHC

Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan inaugurated Ayushmann Bhavah Mela and the new building of Botsa Primary Health Centre on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio and Health and Family Welfare Minister, P Paiwang Konyak.

In his address, the Governor asserted that healthcare is one of the most critical sectors for our development. Quality healthcare forms the bedrock of any prosperous society and the starting point is a PHC inaugurated today, he said.

He appreciated the H&FW department and the village authorities for their tireless efforts in making this Ayushman Bhavah Mela a reality. La Ganesan said the drive for health equality is the cornerstone of the initiative, a name inspired from an age-old Sanskrit phrase that means “Long Live Life.”

Reminding everyone of the importance of collaboration, be it governmental bodies, healthcare providers, or the public, he encouraged all to work together in promoting a healthier lifestyle among our population, which is the true essence of the Ayushman Bhavah campaign. The Governor stated that the goal was not only to cure diseases but to promote an entire culture of wellness and endeavour should be directed towards providing preventive and curative health solutions efficiently.

La Ganesan further urged all to pave the path towards a future where Ayushman Bhavah is not just an initiative, but a way of life to improve lives and bring about determined, lasting change.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, in his address, applauded the Governor for being committed and visiting all parts of Nagaland including the far-flung areas. Rio also appreciated the sincerity and commitment of the contractors and engineers who finished the PHC at record time. He stated that altogether three hospitals were sanctioned together including Zunheboto and Tseminyu but Botsa PHC was already completed and inaugurated today and advised the public to make use of the facilities available.

Rio also applauded the department of H&FW for winning four awards at the National Medical Councils’ Arogya Manthan 2023 for Full Utilization of Allocated Fund, Prompt Anti-Fraud Actions, Ayushman Utkrishtata Award 2023 for Best Claim Settlement Performance and Highest Ayushman Card Generation Among Small States.

He stated that one should take care of their health and maintain a balance diet and advised people to a regular health check up and get early treatment for healthier lifestyle. He also stressed on the importance of good healthy lifestyle and clean environment for living a good healthy life. He also called the people to avail of the Chief Ministers Health Insurance scheme and Ayushmann Bharat scheme.

Minister P Paiwang Konyak highlighted that the Botsa PHC project was sanctioned under NESIDS in 2021 with a total project cost of Rs 152.30 lakh. The total plinth area of the building is about 7200 soft comprising of 16 rooms and 7 toilets. He appreciated that the execution of the project was record breaking as the work was completed in record time and without making any advance payment to the contractor.

The minister also stated that the NGO Doctors for You with the support from Boeing India had provide critical equipment including one ambulance to this PHC and hoped that the PHC Botsa with all the new infrastructure, will not only cater to the needs of the people of the area but will also play a crucial rule in delivery of emergency services.

He said that true to the objectives of the Ayushman Bhavah campaign is to saturate healthcare services to the last mile and stated that he was extremely encouraged by the response of the citizens of the State in availing various health services, He also conveyed his appreciations to all healthcare personnel for executing the campaign flawlessly and with sincerity.

Konyak informed that in the mela, besides health-checkups, the following services are being provided- mother & child healthcare, nutrition support to pregnant & nursing mothers as well as to children as a convergence activity under the ongoing Poshan Maah by the Social Welfare Department. Facilities for availing services on Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Food Safety demonstration, Yoga session and generation of ABHA and Ayushman Card were also provided in the event, he added.

The program was earlier blessed with invocation by Sr. Pastor, Botsa Baptist Church, Rüdilhou Rio.
