The Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan, visited Peren District and held a crucial meeting with Heads of Government Offices and Civil Society Organizations on Friday at DC’s Conference Hall, Peren Hq, DIPR informed. The meeting focused on the pressing need for improved basic infrastructure, education, healthcare, and banking facilities in the district. Governor Ganesan also emphasized the importance of implementing various welfare schemes to benefit the citizens of Nagaland.
During his address, Governor Ganesan highlighted the significance of developing basic infrastructure in the district, including education, healthcare, proper roads, and banking facilities. He urged all educational institutions in the state to adopt the New Education Policy, aiming to elevate India’s education standards to global levels.
The Governor underscored the significance of government health-related schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and the state’s own CM Health Insurance Scheme. He urged the concerned departments to ensure these schemes effectively reach the citizens for their benefit. Additionally, Governor Ganesan stressed the need for raising awareness about tuberculosis and its treatment under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Clean drinking water was another priority, and the Governor urged the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to ensure the successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to provide clean drinking water to every home.
Banking facilities also received attention as Governor Ganesan advocated for every eligible citizen, especially women, to have a Jan-Dhan account. He requested the District Lead Bank Authority to conduct financial literacy camps in villages to raise awareness about banking and financial facilities.

Addressing the alarming issue of drug addiction, the Governor called upon civil societies and law enforcement agencies to take strong measures against drug abuse, underlining the importance of creating a drug-free society.
In conclusion, Governor La. Ganesan urged all citizens to be responsible, law-abiding individuals, and to cooperate with both the central and state governments to work towards the development and progress of Nagaland.
The meeting witnessed an overview of road projects in the district by EE PWD (R&B), Dr. Khuito Murumi, and a presentation on the TB Elimination Programme by DIO Peren, Dr. Kiholi. The gathering also included a security coordination session to address safety and law enforcement matters in the district.
