Governor La Ganesan attends Shakti Roopa Mahila Sammelan in Dimapur

Dimapur: Governor commends efforts of Shakti Roopa, a team of committed women social workers for their dedicated humanitarian service

Nagaland Governor La Ganesan attended the Shakti Roopa Mahila Sammelan Programme on Saturday at the Bharat Seva Ashram Sangh, Dimapur. According to DIPR, Shakti Roopa was organised by Mahila Sammelan. The Bharat Roopa is a collection of all the women organization from rural areas with around 50 to 60 members. This Mahila Sammelan targets to bring all the women members of the family to come together and to empower them for a healthy society and a vibrant nation.

Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan in his speech said that women play a crucial role in the society. They are the backbone of the family and communities. Their integral involvement in the society ensures stability, progress and development of a nation. The contributions of women in our country towards growth and advancement are profound and far-reaching, creating a tangible impact in all domains with women breaking barriers and making their mark in various fields.

While we acknowledge the accomplishments and contribution of women in shaping modern India, we also recognize the challenges that confronts them. Despite the challenges, the inherent strength and resilience that embodies women as mothers, daughters, wives, sisters, professionals and achievers makes them a vital catalyst in the development of nation building and happy to learn about the works and social service of some people amid us today, the Governor added.

The Governor also noted that one of the pressing concerns and challenge afflicting our society was the menace of addiction and substance abuse. The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is a collective vision to eradicate this social illness through community engagement towards realizing the goal of a sustainable society that is free from substance abuse. Therefore, he urged all to be a partaker of this mission and make concerted efforts to assist and provide support to those struggling with addiction.

He also commended the efforts of Shakti Roopa, a team of committed women social workers for their dedicated humanitarian service and encouraged all to continue in the endeavours to generate positive change in the society.

The five selected social workers namely: Tajungsangla, Anita Roy, Sumitra Biswas, Pora Tanti and Sharmila MoMin were honoured during the program.
