Govt of India, NSCN-(K) Niki extend Ceasefire Agreement

New Delhi: Ceasefire aims to bring about lasting peace in Nagaland with involvement of Naga people

The Government of India and National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Niki, on Wednesday, mutually agreed to extend the Ceasefire Agreement for a period of one year. The renewed truce between the two sides will take effect from 8th September 2023 till 7th September 2024.

The extension agreement was signed in New Delhi by Abel Zingrü Thuer, Supervisor, CFSB and Uketo Z, Chophy, Secretary, CFSB representing NSCN-(K) Niki and Piyush Goyal, Addl Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs for Government of India.

The document stated that through the renewal of ceasefire, both parties aim to bring about a lasting peace in Nagaland with the involvement of Naga people.

It also said that the Ceasefire will be subject to adherence to the Ceasefire Ground Rules mutually agreed to and signed by the two sides and that the Ceasefire Ground Rules will be subject to mutual review and amendment with the involvement of both the parties.
