While announcing the cancellation of the UGC-NET June Examination 2024 due to possibility of the exam being compromised, the Ministry of Education also informed that with regards to certain irregularities alleged in the conduct of the NEET -UG 2024 examination in Patna, a detailed report has been sought from the Economic Offences Unit, Bihar Police. It also said that government will take further action based on this report.

Despite of over 20 people arrested by the Bihar Police on charges related to NEET-UG 2024 exam, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan have maintained that there was no paper leak and that the integrity of the exam had not been compromised.

On 19th June 2024, the Education Ministry said that the Government is committed to ensure the sanctity of examinations and protect the interest of students and asserted that any individual/organization found to be involved in this matter will face strictest action.

The Supreme Court of India had on 18th June told the Government and the NTA to ensure that even ‘0.001% negligence’ in conducting the NEET-UG 2024 exams be looked into with all seriousness considering the immense labour that the candidates have put in for preparing the nationwide examination, a Live Law report stated.

“As an agency which is conducting the examination, you must act fair. If there is a mistake, say yes, this is a mistake, and this is the action we are going to take. At least that inspires confidence in your performance,” the apex Court told NTA.

Meanwhile the Congress Party had earlier today announced that it will hold a nationwide agitation on 21st June 2024 against the “rigging in the NEET exam” and the silence of the Central Government. It stated that irregularities such as being alleged in the recently conducted NEET-UG exam “undermine the credibility of the examination process and jeopardise the future of countless dedicated students.”
