GPRN/NSCN-K upholds impeachment of Isak Sumi, claims Ceasefire Group gave approval to occupy office

Dimapur: The NSCN/GPRN-Khango has signed a formal ceasefire with GOI and it will continue to uphold it

The GPRN/NSCN-K upheld the impeachment of Col (Retd) Isak Sumi, calling the order “requisite”. The Khango Konyak government reiterated that Sumi was guilty of “exercising absolute autocratic rule seizing the powers and functions of the senior workers assigned by the President.”

Meanwhile, the Ahza (impeachment) of the Ato Kilonser (General Secretary) on 4 January 2023 has exposed the disunity within the group. The Council of Kilonsers, Tatars, Secretariat staff, army officers and party functionaries of NSCN-K, on 5 January threatened to impeach the President himself if the order was not revoked.

Regarding this mutiny, the NSCN-K has alleged, “all the complainers were coerced by some individual/groups in Dimapur”.

The group claimed that Sumi’s service in the government had caused “untold miseries within the party set-up” and there were complains against him from all corners.

The matter has been further complicated because of the involvement of the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC/NNPGs), which demanded intervention from Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG).

To this, the GPRN/NSCN-K replied that it is “amused” by how the convenor of WC/NNPGs “immediately sided with the impeached General Secretary”.

“The problem is within NSCN(Khango) political set up, and not with the NNPGS or any particular community”, the group stated.

It further clarified that Isak Sumi “holds no authority to represent the government in any manner, in any platform”, and that the government will appoint an official to represent the government in the WC/NNPGs

As for the allegations levied against its “unruly elements” forcefully occupying the Ceasefire office, the group has claimed that “approval came from the Ceasefire Group”

“The NSCN/GPRN-Khango has signed a formal ceasefire with GOI and it will continue to uphold it,” it affirmed.

The group further appealed to the Naga public, particularly the citizens of Dimapur, to bear with it “as we are treating and diagnosing a very serious patient”.

“The action of the NSCN (Khango) is not against any community as we are a part of one family,” it repeated.
